MaximiliansForum is an arts space run by the City of Munich dedicated to the applied arts, such as jewellery, design, fashion, and architecture, as well as to interdisciplinary artistic and cultural projects. In exhibitions, installations, discussion panels, expert talks, performances and other activities, cutting-edge concepts are presented and socially as well as culturally relevant questions are discussed, focussing on the interaction of applied and liberal arts.

MaximiliansForum has an open and communicative character. The space, in its strict architectonic structure, is as alterable as the atmosphere during the events is diverse and lively. The idiosyncratic space is thus enlivened to an inspiring forum for new ideas and visions through dialogic concepts, miscellaneous protagonists, and an audience from numerous cultural and social backgrounds with a wide range of interests.

This unique arts space, located centrally below Munich’s famous Maximilianstraße, has a multilayered history starting in the 1970s that is recalled by names such as Lenbachhaus/Kunstforum, Maximiliansforum and lastly ZKMax. Throughout all its different developments, MaximiliansForum as a free space for innovative cultural formats and forms of expression, represents an all-around cross-linked und surprising side of Munich’s arts scene and connects the latter to internationally important positions in various disciplines.

The subway is constantly visible, no entry fees are charged for exhibitions and most of the events.
